Transparency takes centre stage

The new delicatessen section at Globus St. Gallen
During the fit-out, particular attention was paid to the delicatessen section in the basement of Globus, where a concept unique in Switzerland was introduced.

Interview with Daniel Kunz
GLAESER
What is the concept behind the delicatessen section at the new Globus in St. Gallen?
Daniel Kunz
Our philosophy is transparency. Delicatessa customers not only see the food on display at the counter, but also have a clear view of all areas, right through to the back stockroom. This openness demonstrates our honesty towards our customers: we have nothing to hide, and when we talk about organic, regional and sustainable products, we mean it – everyone can see for themselves in the Delicatessa section at the new Globus in St. Gallen.
GLAESER
How do customers feel about this transparency?
Daniel Kunz
Before rolling out the concept in St. Gallen, we gave a great deal of thought to what the future shopping experience for our customers should look like. Within our stores, the Delicatessa department is playing a pioneering role with the first implementation of the new concept. It is therefore all the more gratifying that customers in Eastern Switzerland have responded so positively to the concept. Ultimately, the shopping experience encompasses far more than just the new transparency: our idea was to create a marketplace offering fresh, seasonal produce. If we can ensure that customers across the region know that St. Gallen offers the most diverse selection of high-quality, fresh produce, then we will have achieved our goal.
GLAESER
What role does shop fittings play at Globus?
Daniel Kunz
One of our key priorities is to offer our customers a unique shopping experience. We deliberately take a different approach to others, with one primary aim in mind: we want to build closer relationships with our customers through a service that treats them as equals, and to respond specifically to their needs.
GLAESER
How do GLAESER’s designs fit into the existing interior design?
Daniel Kunz
The design is unlike any previous Delicatessa outlet. What has been created here is a fusion of our guests’ needs and our vision of a modern shop interior – set within a high-quality architectural design.
